In my childhood I travelled to play in amateur chess tournaments with my dad. It was my favourite adventure. I didn’t usually place well, but the joy of the game was a shared treasure. (I didn’t do too bad though!)
As an adult I’ve continued to enjoy chess as a hobby. More importantly however, my work in healthcare has given me frequent reminders of the damage done to families by degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.
